Three held after encounters

DIJKOT:

Three alleged robbers were injured and arrested in two police encounters.

According to officials, Tandlianwala police were patrolling Dijkot Road and signaled two motorcycles carrying four suspicious persons to stop.

The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police. During retaliatory firing, two alleged robbers, Usman and Naleen, were injured and arrested. The police seized a motorcycle, two pistols, mobile phones and a wallet from them. The police said both suspects were involved in cases of extortion and robbery.

In a separate incident, Mamunkanjan SHO Tariq Mahmood and his team set up a checkpoint near at 494-GB, where four suspicious motorcyclists were asked to stop. The suspects abandoned their motorcycles, entered nearby corn fields and allegedly opened fire on the police.
