UAF to develop low-cost bio pesticides

They will accelerate the pace of work to curb locusts playing havoc with the agriculture sector

The research and development (R&D) cell will accelerate the pace of work and develop new biopesticides to curb locusts playing havoc with the agriculture sector, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) Vice-Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ashraf has said.

He stated this while chairing the performance review meeting of the locusts R&D cell of the varsity. Entomology Department Chairperson Dr Masnoor Sahi, Dr Jalal Arif, Dr Muhammad Saghir, Dr Amer Rasul, Dr Masoorul Hassan and other scientists were present on the occasion.

The VC directed the experts to analyse the rearing, life cycle and other aspects of locusts on a scientific basis.

He added that scientists of entomology, biochemistry, and physics departments would work jointly on the research.
