Japan intends to mark 2022 as the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Japan and Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Japanese government on Wednesday conferred the Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendations 2019 upon the MEXT Alumni Association of Pakistan (MAAP) in recognition of their contributions towards the promotion of educational relations between Japan and Pakistan.

The commendation was conferred to MAAP — an association of Pakistani alumni of Japanese universities — by Japanese Ambassador Kuninori Matsuda at a reception hosted by the envoy at his residence on Wednesday evening. MAAP President Dr Nasir Khan received the award.

Ambassador Matsuda congratulated MAAP and other members upon receiving this prestigious award. He added that MAAP members have worked with full dedication to promoting Japan-Pakistan educational linkages and that the Japanese government greatly values these services.

“The association has played an essential role and it has acted as a bridge of friendship and goodwill between the two countries,” Matsuda further said. He stressed that people-to-people exchange is one of the most important pillars which sustain the friendly relations between Japan and Pakistan.

The ambassador added that Japan intends to mark 2022 as the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Japan and Pakistan.
