According to Pinkvilla, there has been a lot of buzz about Jacqueline Fernandez and Swara Bhaskar stepping into the shoes of Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi in Bhatt's directorial remake.
However, for the lead, Hashmi has allegedly been approached by the makers. Yes, you read it right! The remake will be directed by south Indian actor and film-maker Revathi.
A source revealed, "Emraan has been approached to play one of the male leads, possibly Kulbhushan Kharbanda's role. The actor is pretty excited about the part, given that the original was tactfully and meticulously looked over by Bhatt himself. Emraan's closeness with the Bhatt family is well known and Emraan obviously seems to be an obvious choice for the role."
On the other hand, Bhaskar will play the role of a deserted wife who takes the road to self-discovery after her husband leaves her. On the other hand, the Housefull star will essay an actor who inadvertently becomes the third wheel in their relationship.
In 2017, Shaan's rendition of Bhatt's film failed to leave an impact at the box office. The film starred Humaima Malick, Mohib Mirza and Uzma Hassan.
The remake is a contemporary retelling of the original story and will be set in Lahore. The idea materialised into a film after Shaan met Bhatt in 2015 and expressed his desire to remake the film for Pakistani audiences.
“Arth is the first film with the DNA of an Indian story to be set in Pakistan. If we want to strengthen film trade between our countries, Arth’s model is a great way of collaborating,” Shaan previously said.
The original director of the movie recently lauded the performances of the protagonists and took to Twitter to sing praises for Malick and Shaan. The Murder film-maker wrote, “A stunning looking film shot with passion. Thank you Shaan for bringing the film that hurled me into history to a whole new audience."
Arth's forthcoming remake is slated to go on floors in December this year or early next year.
