Learning about taxes just got easier

KARACHI: “Not all talented youngsters can move to Canada for greener pastures,” said the Sindh Youth Minister at the inauguration of a taxation training programme. “We have to invest in our youth and provide them the desired infrastructure here to let them polish their skills and contribute to the betterment of society.”

A five-month taxation training programme has been organised by the sports and youth affairs department of the Sindh government in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). The programme, which is part of the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programme, was inaugurated by the youth minister, Faisal Ali Subzwari.

This is the second of a three-series programme designed by the department. An insurance training programme was launched last month while a course on banking is being prepared for the future.

“The kind of taxation training you will be provided at this institution [ICAP] will help you in improving your skills,” Subzwari told the 20 young participants at the ceremony. “You should avail this opportunity and make the most of it by taking your lessons seriously which will open a lot of career opportunities for you,” he added. The participants have been selected from across the province and will receive certificates after completing the course. The certificate is expected to help the youngsters in future careers in the taxation industry, said secretary sports and youth affairs Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui,

All participants will get stipends from the department while the trainees who are from outside Karachi will also get additional allowance for their boarding during the five months.
