LAHORE:

The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) has arranged a special summer art camp to introduce classes of various disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture and calligraphy to young students.

The seven-week programme, called titled Summer Art Camp 2019, will commence on June 20. It aims to engage students and amateur artists in healthy activities during their summer vacations. The courses will provide opportunities for budding artists to explore their talent and collaborate on artwork. In order to organise art-related activities, the participants for the summer camp have been divided into three age groups of five to six year olds, seven to 10 year olds and 11 to 16 year olds.

Around 50 students from various educational institutions are participating in classes of the different fields of visual and performing arts. During various sessions of the arts camp, the young participants will gain experience of drawing and painting using different mediums, themes and techniques with the help of professional artists. The students will also receive training in music which includes playing musical instruments and vocal training. Drama and puppet workshops will also be arranged for the children.

The arts camp is designed to encourage creativity among students through basic training of drawing, use of pencil, sketching and paints.

Summer Art Camp 2019 is a regular feature of PNCA’s programs and is arranged with the support of the ministry of information and broadcasting to boost the skills of future artists and help them with their formal education.
