SBCA to begin action against illegal buildings

KARACHI: Following Supreme Court’s orders, Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani has given go ahead to Sindh Building Control Authority (SCBA) to begin action against illegal buildings, which are under construction and unoccupied.

He issued the directives while chairing a meeting on Thursday. During the meeting, he directed the deputy commissioners to monitor the demolition of illegal buildings and provide all needed support to the relevant departments.

It was decided in the meeting that a committee, headed by the assistant commissioner and comprising SBCA and police officials, would conduct the operation against illegal structures. The committee would receive guidance from the deputy commissioner and prepare a plan of action to for the demolition of illegal buildings. Additionally, a task force has been formed by SBCA to identify illegal buildings for demolision.
