LAHORE: A man allegedly killed his four-year-old nephew over a family dispute and dumped the body into a canal in Burki.

Police said that Shehzad, a resident of Barki Road, had gone to meet his sister at her house in Mandianawala village a few days ago. In the village, his wife Shazia and her brother Imran exchanged harsh words. Later, Imran kidnaped his nephew and strangled him to death. Later, three suspects, including husband, wife and a friend, dumped the body into a canal to conceal their crime.

Police said Imran had confessed to his crime while being interrogated in custody. Police also fished the child's body out of the canal. SHO Barki police station Sajjad Butt said Imran, his wife and their friend have been arrested.

In a separate incident, a 26-year old security guard was injured when a kite string slit his throat in Green Town on Saturday. The injured was shifted to a nearby hospital in a critical condition.

Police said Imran Younus was injured by kite string in Chand Mari Chowk in Green Town. On getting information, police reached the spot and shifted the injured to a hospital where his condition is out of danger. In this month, this is the third incident.

Taking notice of the incident, DIG Operations Lahore Mohammad Waqas Nazeer issued a show cause notice to SHO Green Town Inspector Riaz Ahmed and sought an explanation from DSP Township Circle Malik Ejaz Ali.

SP Saddar Division has been ordered to present the inquiry report after investigating the matter as soon as possible. DIG Operations said that the stern departmental actions will be taken against the responsible person.
