CM Kamal’s adviser warns of strict action against ghost teachers, employees

QUETTA: Adviser to the Chief Minister on Education Haji Mohammad Khan Lehri has announced distribution of 1.32 million books in schools located in the cold areas of Balochistan till February 18.

“Schools in hot areas of the province have reopened after winter holidays, two months ahead of schedule,” said the CM’s adviser while addressing a meeting with the officers of the education department and other delegations at his office on Tuesday.

Lehri warned that ghost schools and employees would not be tolerated at any cost. “Strong action will be taken against those teachers and employees, who are not performing their duties properly,” he added.

The adviser said an advisory meeting, comprising government officials, members of the provincial assembly and opposition members, would be held on Wednesday to discuss the education department act.

Lehri said, “A complaint cell has been set up in the education department where people can register their complaints directly.”

He said Rs180 million had been deducted from the salary of teachers not performing their duties, adding that the provincial government had no intention of imposing any ban on unions; however, an act was being introduced to improve the education sector and for that the government and opposition members were holding a unanimous meeting.

He said he was himself visiting the far-flung areas of the province checking the attendance of the teachers and provision of facilities.
Lehri said 0.74 million books had been sent to Turbat.
