Foreign office spokesman Abdul Basit said on Thursday that Pakistan is not under any external pressure to launch an operation in North Waziristan.

During the weekly briefing at the Foreign Office, Basit said the government and the army will decide on the operation in Waziristan.

He said Pakistan and the US have differences over drone strikes, adding that they are counterproductive.

Basit rejected a US newspaper report about land attacks by the US inside Pakistan, and termed it baseless.

Talking about Indo-Pak relations, Basit said their trust deficit can only be reduced through dialogue. He added that the Baghlihar dam issue will be taken up in the meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries in July.
