Balochistan CM pledges to resolve water crisis in Quetta and Gwadar

Congratulates new CJ Tahira Safdar on her elevation

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan has said resolving water crisis in Quetta and Gwadar is among the top priorities of the provincial government.

“The issue will be resolved by appropriate utilisation of all available resources at hand,” said the chief minister during a meeting with Federal Minister for Defence Production Zubaida Jalal at the CM Secretariat on Saturday.



Both the leaders exchanged views over the development of the province in general and over the development of Gwadar and Makran in particular.

They agreed that as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor had increased the importance of Gwadar manifold, the basic infrastructure and potable water issues of Gwadar needed immediate attention.

CM Kamal told the federal minister that he was holding meetings with the heads of different departments for utilising all available resources to resolve the issue.



The leaders also agreed that by nurturing relations with the federal government, the long-lasting issues of Balochistan could finally be resolved.

Separately, the chief minister congratulated new Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar on taking oath and charge of her office.

In a press statement, the CM said, “Justice Safdar is a hardworking and diligent woman, who is counted among capable judges.”



She has exhibited fine performance throughout her entire career for swift and speedy justice.

He said Justice Safdar’s appointment is a matter of great honour and prestige for the Balochistan High Court as her taking charge as the first-ever woman chief justice has marked a new history in the country.
