SHABQADAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) MNA-elect Gul Zafar from Bajaur who rose from humble beginnings waiting tables at a tea shop has turned out to be a multi millionaire.

In his disclosure of assets submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) it was revealed that he has two houses as well as agricultural land worth 12 million rupees.

Zafar also runs optical and garment businesses worth five million rupees.

In the documents it has also come to light that the PTI leader has a non-custom paid Toyota Fielder car.

Zafar has almost a million rupees in gold, as well as, two million in his bank account and household goods of Rs1 million.

In his previous interview with The Express Tribune he shared that despite his family having agricultural lands in Gokai, they fell upon hard times and he was forced to move to Rawalpindi to find work when he was still in school.

"When I joined the party back in 1996 I was still hand to mouth and still working at the tea shop," he said.

"When I was sent to Bajaur after consultation with party high ups I still had to borrow money from local leadership as a party organiser," he said.

Zafar said that he received 20 million rupees in donations this year, out of which he spent about 2.5 million on his election campaigh while the rest will be spent on establishing party offices.

When the PTI leader was contacted to comment in this regard his secretary declined.
