FIA expands PTI foreign funding case

ISLAMABAD:

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has expanded the scope of the prohibited foreign funding case against PTI founder and others, a banking court was informed on Thursday.

Banking Court Judge Abdul Ghafoor Kakar presided over the proceedings. The investigation could not appear due to illness, while special prosecutor attended and apprised the court of the progress.

During the hearing, special prosecutor told the court that two more suspects and one witness had been added to the case. He said the investigation had been completed and the challan would be submitted at the next hearing.

The court directed that the challan be submitted at the next hearing and adjourned proceedings until April 14.

Meanwhile, the interim bail of the nominated suspects Siraj Ahmed and Faisal Qazi was extended until April 14 with the court ordering that they not be arrested until then.

The FIA has registered the case against the PTI founder and others under charges including money laundering and other related offences.
