ISLAMABAD:

The committment of young people to follow traffic rules can help the police immensely in ensuring a safe road environment, said Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood here on Thursday while addressing a one-day road safety workshop at Islamabad College for Girls in F-6/2.

Over 450 female students attended the workshop on traffic rules organised by the education team of Islamabad Traffic Police and headed by Inspector Mehfooz Kianai.

The students took keen interest in the workshop and raised important questions for getting acquainted with traffic rules.

The SSP said the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) is doing its best for ensuring safe roads in the federal capital, but the cooperation of students would help a lot in achieving their objective.

He said female students must tell their family members and friends about the importance of following traffic rules for making the capital an accident-free area.

The traffic police has been arranging lectures at variouse educational, government and non-government institutions to inculcate traffic sense among people. This workshop was a sequel of this programme, whic will also be extended to main education institutions.

He said ITP was also endeavouring to control rash driving and over-speeding in the city by conducting inspection through radars.

On the occasion, the
SSP awarded certificates to five female students who got positions in a painting
contest during a family gala arranged by ITP at F-9 park on May 14-15.

Principal ICG F-6/2 Shaista Pirzada appreciated the efforts of ITP and said that the force  has improved the image of police by eliminating VIP culture and ensured community policing through public cooperation.
