IGP seeks martyrs package on a par with other provinces

Lauds police performance on election day

QUETTA: Balochistan Inspector General of Police Mohsin Hassan Butt has lauded the performance of the police force on elections day, saying they effectively organised and implemented strategies to avert any untoward incident.

“History is filled with sacrifices given by the Balochistan police in the line of duty. They “earned martyrdom” while protecting the lives and property of the people,” said the IGP while addressing a certificates distribution ceremony at the IG Office in Quetta. The certificates were distributed among male and female officers of the Balochistan police, who were deployed for election duty.



Other senior police officers, including Deputy Inspector General Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema, Senior Superintendent of Traffic Police Nazeer Ahmed Kurd, SSP HQ, Haleem Ahmed Achakzai, were present.

IGP Butt said, “No complaints regarding unprofessional conduct have been received from any political party against the police force, which proves that they have fulfilled their duty professionally.

“For maintaining law and order in the province, the Balochistan police force played a significant role. In order to eradicate the multi-headed menace of terrorism, the police officers are being trained on modern lines and their morale is high.”



The IGP also lauded the services of the women police force, saying they “deserve equal praise, particularly, for their services rendered on the election day”.

On the martyrdom of police officers in the bomb blast near a polling station in the bypass area on Sariab Road on the election day, Butt expressed grief over the martyrdom of six police officers in the line of duty. “My sympathies go out to the bereaved families and I am with them in these tumultuous times.”

He also prayed for the early recovery of the officers injured.

He said, “The government, including all institutions, have lauded the services of the police force.”



He said the Balochistan police in the near past embraced martyrdom in the line of duty and would not budge an inch from giving more sacrifices for their sacred mission of protecting the people.

However, IGP Butt urged the provincial government to ensure provision of perks and privileges to the police force equal to the forces of other provinces.

“The pledged upgradation of the martyrs’ package must be turned into reality so the restlessness amongst the police officers can be minimised,” he added.

Speaking at the event, Quetta DIG Razzaq Cheema said, “The police have displayed teamwork during elections.”

He praised the performance of the police constables deployed at various polling stations and said they “served effectively”.
