LAHORE: Caretaker Minister for Finance, Excise and Taxation Zia Haider Rizvi has said local governments have been given their due monthly share for the payment of wages and day-to-day expenditures under the provincial financial award.

He said that no additional funds have been allocated to anyone and no limits have been crossed to facilitate anyone in this regard. "Neither does the caretaker government believe in politics of prejudice, nor does it believe in following a political agenda.

"We have been given the mandate to ensure fair and transparent elections, maintain law and order, and perform daily affairs of the government," he added.

"We hope that all the institutions, including the media, will extend their full support to us, playing their pivotal role as stakeholders."  Talking to the media in his office, he said that the caretaker government does not have any authority or additional funds to facilitate anyone.

Local governments, including the union councils, have their due share in the provincial financial award, he said, adding that the funds are being released to both local and provincial governments, only for the purpose of the payment of wages and daily expenditure, for which the existing method and formula has been adopted.
