TOBA TEK SINGH: A labourer’s son was killed by landlords in Gojra on Wednesday.

A police official told Express News that accused Shada and Qamar had made the life of Muhammad Ameen’s family, including the women, wearisome over a dispute that had been going on between them for long.

He added the suspects were allegedly involved in beating up the Ameen’s family, including women due to which they resorted to protests thrice on several occasions and also blocked the traffic. But neither the security was provided to them nor was their plea heard. In fact, the suspects continued to harass the poor family without any fear.

However, on the day of the incident, accused Shada and Qamar opened fire on Amin’s only son Muhammad Khalid Amin near Kabutar Nawala Graveyard, injuring him seriously.

The injured man was promptly taken to the Civil Hospital Faisalabad from where he was referred to Allied Hospital Faisalabad owing to the serious condition. But the victim expired before reaching the hospital.

Protest held against killing of labourers

As a result, the residents got enraged and shouted slogans against the suspects and police. They also set the tires on fire and blocked the roads. The demonstrators included men, women and children.

The protesters blamed the police of not taking action against the culprits. They alleged that if the police had taken action against the suspects, the victim’s life could have been saved.

Meanwhile, Toba Tek Singh DPO took notice of the incident and ordered the police to register a case and arrest the accused. Last week, a video of a man beating his servant with a stick, who was suspended by his feet and was hanging upside down, made the rounds on the internet.

In the video, a copy of which is available with Express News, the victim Amjad was hanging upside down, suspended by his feet while another person was holding the rope that held him up. Meanwhile, the accused, an influential person in the area name Rana Shafeeq, beat the upside down man with a stick.

After footage of the incident started circulating online and in media, police arrested Shafeeq and registered a case against him and his uncle.
