CTPL devises security plan to maintain traffic

Around 2,000 traffic wardens will perform duties

LAHORE: The City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) has devised a comprehensive security plan to maintain the flow of traffic during the holy month of Ramazan.

According to the plan, at least 2,000 traffic wardens, under the supervision of 62 patrolling officers, 38 senior wardens, 11 DSPs and two SPs, will perform their duties.

Special traffic arrangements by respective traffic circles have been devised after consultations with the local administration for sensitive and important mosques, imambargahs, 32 Ramazan bazars and madani dastarkhawans.

Chief Traffic Police Officer (CTO) Rai Ejaz Ahmad said that they would deploy extra traffic wardens during Sahri, Iftari and Taraweeh times near imambargahs and mosques to maintain the flow of traffic.



He added that extra wardens and over 50 lifters will also be deployed outside imambargahs and mosques to eliminate wrong-parking.

He requested the public to cooperate with traffic police to end nuisance for the public by cooperating with CTPL. It was also in a way paying regards to the holy month of Ramadan.

Ejaz further added that the month of Ramazan teaches us to the patient. Therefore, people should pave an “easy way for other citizens” by complying with traffic rules.

The citizens can use the RASTA app, 88.6 FM Radio and 15 Police Helpline to get information about the traffic situation in the city. “People should use these resources before starting their journey during Ramazan.”

Meanwhile, the CTO has announced a cash prize of Rs5,000 and a C-III certificate for a traffic warden who was maintaining the flow of traffic in Regal Chowk by using his hands in an artistic manner.
