Lok Virsa Executive Director Shahera Shahid announced the event and stated that its purpose is to create a spirit of peace and unity, and strengthen national harmony through a cultural perspective.
The main features of the mela include works by young artisans, live folk music and folk dance performances, a craft bazaar, traditional cuisine of all provinces, etc.
The opening ceremony is scheduled on Friday April 27 2018 at 11.00 a.m. at Lok Virsa Heritage Museum, Garden Avenue, Shakarparian Hills, Islamabad. The ceremony will present popular milli naghmas, Kalam-e-Iqbal, mystic songs, folk songs and folk dances, all performed by young artists and folk musicians attired in coloured traditional costumes. The Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb is expected at the opening ceremony as Chief Guest.
