On April 15, her granddaughter S*, was playing outside the gate of her house along with her brother. While the children were playing, a suspect named Umair allegedly grabbed the child’s hand, taking her to a nearby haveli, the complaint read.
It was after some time that family members noticed that the brother was playing all alone. Frantically, they started to search for the missing child, the complaint detailed.
In the midst of searching for S*, they came across the haveli where the accused had taken the child. They discovered him in a deserted room, attempting to assault the child. After seeing the family members, the accused fled the scene, said the complainant.
Man killed for ‘honour’
Further, one man was killed while his mother and wife were injured after three men opened fire in the name of honour in Nawan Kot.
The men barged into a house and opened fire on all the occupants, reported police. As a result, 19-year old Adil Akram, his wife Fariha, and his 40-year-old mother Safiya sustained bullet injuries. They were admitted to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced Akram as dead, said police.
Initial investigations into the matter suggest that the men were seeking to kill in the name of honour. Apparently, Adil and Fariha had had a love marriage which had angered the latter’s family. Two of the men were identified as Rauf, the deceased’s brother-in-law and Muhammed Tariq
Police and rescue teams, after being informed of the incident, rushed to the scene. They sent the body to the morgue for an autopsy after recording eyewitness statements. The cops added that they are currently conducting raids to arrest the suspects.
