Joint collaboration with Sudan: UoB VC stresses need for higher education

Says educational institutions play imperious role in establishing better relations between countries

QUETTA: University of Balochistan (UoB) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Javed Iqbal has said that there exists good bilateral relations between Pakistan and Sudan and it is imperative that we ensure conversion and exchange of our experiences, information and academic research so that we can be able to achieve higher education with mutual collaboration.

He expressed these views while meeting Sudan Consul General Angud Johnson and a five-member delegation in his chamber at the UoB.

They discussed various matters, including research activities and undertakings of the university. Bilateral relations between the institutions, including specialists' research exchange programmes, and the educational system of the country and province, were also discussed.

The UoB vice chancellor warmly welcomed the delegation and said that educational institutions played an imperious role in establishing better relations between the countries.

The Sudan consul general appreciated the ongoing educational and research developments in the university and traditional customs of Balochistan.

He said, “Potential steps are being taken by the government of Pakistan for promotion of tourism and advancement of higher education exchange programmes.”

Later on, students of the UoB presented a special play in the UoB auditorium that portrayed the glitches women face every day in various countries and in different professions while going out and working.

Students played the role of prominent women, raising voices for rights of deprived women and struggling against injustices prevailing in today's society.

The Sudan CG praised the students for highlighting the positive role of women in their play.

In the end the CG and VC presented shields to all participants.
