The academic council suggested that the university add three more departments - civil engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. For this purpose, a no objection certificate (NOC) will be requested from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).
The academic council gave its authorisation for the mathematical and computer science bachelors programmes, but still needed the syndicate's permission as well as an NOC from the authorities concerned.

DUET Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr Pir Roshan Din Shah Rashdi, Dean of Engineering Professor Dr Abdul Waheed Bhutto, Academic Coordinator Dr Dost Ali Khawaja, Registrar Captain (retd) Syed Waqar Hussain Shah, Examination Controller Gul Muhammad Bhaiyo, all the departmental chairpersons, representative of the education department, Ahsaanullah Laghari, College of Business Management Dean Professor Dr Irfan Haider and others were also present during the meeting.
The academic council expressed its satisfaction over the academic activities and overall quality of classes that were held in the session.
The academic council was also briefed about the ongoing preparations of the university's fifth annual award distribution ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on March 10.
During the meeting, there was an exchange of thoughts regarding the ideas proposed in the Advance Studies Research Board's meetings on the topic of MS and PhD programmes and their fee structures.

During his address at the session, VC Dr Abbasi reiterated the determination that from now onwards the curriculum of DUET would only revolve around the concept of 'work, work and work'.
