CM’s assurance helps end students' sit-in

Bolan Medical College entrance test nullified; committee formed to probe inconsistencies

QUETTA: Students from several districts of Balochistan staged a protest sit-in for second day in a row outside the Quetta Press Club against discrepancies in the entrance test of Bolan Medical College. However, on assurances from Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, the students ended their sit-in.

The assurances included setting up a committee for investigation into the inconsistencies. The committee will submit a full report to the chief minister within two days.



Assuring the students, Bizenjo said, “A committee has been set up to investigate the discrepancies by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and will submit a report within two days.”

The staff and organisers would be held accountable if found guilty, he said, adding that the results of the entrance test shall be eliminated.

Earlier during the protest, student leaders said that when responsibilities of organising the entrance test were taken away from the National Testing Service and handed over to the HEC, many student unions and political parties expressed their reservations and doubts over the move.



Their apprehensions were proven right by the massive blunders in the entrance test a few days ago.

The student leaders called upon the HEC chairman and the courts to take notice of discrepancies and demanded that the results be deemed nullified.

The protesters ended their sit-in protest as soon as the chief minister assured them that their demands would be met.
