WhatsApp has reached a new milestone with 1.5 billion monthly users with 60 billion messages being sent daily.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement while releasing Q4 earnings of 2017 for the company. WhatsApp's $19 billion acquisition in 2014 is seemingly becoming more and more justified.

Before being acquired by Facebook in 2014, WhatsApp had 450 million monthly active users and 315 million daily active users. In July, the messaging giant had reached 1.3 billion monthly users with 1 billion daily users.

Last month, WhatsApp also launched a Business app aimed to make it easier for small and medium businesses to connect with customers.

“We launched WhatsApp Business -- a new app designed specifically for small and medium businesses to connect with people they want to reach by making it easier for businesses to respond to customers, separating customer and personal messages, and creating an official presence," according to a blog post.
