The dissident group that overthrew the PML-N government in Balochistan unanimously nominated on Thursday Mir Quddus Bizenjo, former deputy speaker of the provincial assembly and a member of the PML-Quaid (PML-Q), as a consensus candidate for the office of chief minister.

This was formally announced at a news conference attended by political heavyweights and tribal chieftains, including Sardar Mohammad Saleh Bhootani, Mir Jan Mohammad Jamali and Sarfraz Bugti.

They said that Bizenjo would file his nomination papers in the Balochistan Assembly on Friday forenoon.

Bugti, Malik among Balochistan CM contenders

The press conference was also attended by two JUI-F leaders, Mufti Gulab and Mir Usman Badini, and Muslim League legislators Sarfraz Domki, Majid Abro, Mir Amanullah Notezai and Prince Ahmed Ali.

Earlier, the unified opposition in the Balochistan Assembly had announced their unqualified support to any nominee from either the N-League or the Q-League.

They announced to support Abdul Quddus Bizenjo as the new chief minister.

Expressing the hope that the next general elections would be held on time, they said that there was no reason for any delay.

Pledging to give top priority to education, health and maintenance of law and order, they said that all elements were necessary for good governance.

Balochistan CM Zehri quits to avoid no-trust vote

Reposing confidence in the abilities of incumbent Speaker of Balochistan Assembly Raheela Durrani, they said that they were confident that she would run the house in a democratic manner.

Categorically declaring Quddus Bizenjo as unanimous nominee for the CM’s job, Sardar Mohammad Saleh Bhootani said that all legislators would support him in effectively running the administration.

Sarfraz Bugti said that peace had returned to the Awaran area and Bizenjo had made valuable contributions in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Balochistan Assembly’s Secretariat will accept nominations for the post of the next chief minister and the scrutiny process would be complete by the evening. The entire process would be completed in a single day.

PM fails to save Balochistan CM

However, Nawaz Sharif loyalists held a separate meeting at the residence of Sardar Dur Mohammad Nasir attended by five other MPAs.

They decided to float a joint candidate for the post after consulting with their coalition partners – the PkMAP and National Party.

Sardar Yakoob Nasir contended that there were rumours that the no-confidence motion would be used to delay Senate elections.

Sardar Nasir was talking to newsmen after a meeting with a PkMAP delegation led by Dr Hamid Achakzai.

Others who accompanied him included Ziaratwal, Ubaidullah Babat, Majeed Achakzai and Agha Liaquat. Haji Ali Mohammad Lehri, Izhar Khosa, Sardar Dur Mohammad Nasir also attended the meeting.

Sardar Nasir ruled out holding any talks with dissidents. He said Nawab Sanaullah Zehri was in Karachi and he would be consulted on the issue of fielding a joint candidate as the new chief minister.

He demanded that the next general elections should be held on time.

Interestingly, with the emergence of a PML-Q man as the next chief minister, the PML-N is now confined to just Punjab after it was effectively dislodged from Balochistan.

Beloos | 6 years ago | Reply I Salute the think tanks behind all this drama of fooling the fools. This guy only secured 400 something votes to win the provincial election in his area. If he thought that Nawab Sanaullah didn't have the capability and capacity to govern Baluchistan then he's not a better alternate either. One can only sit and laugh as this comedy unfolds. It took these learned politician's two and a half years to realize that things are not how they should be. The current political acumen is a clear indication of where we are headed to.May Almighty Allah be with us.
