School students to get technical education across Punjab

An amount of Rs315 million was released by the Punjab govt in 2009-10

LAHORE: Public schools institutions will provide technical education to students of selected high and higher secondary institutions in each district of the province.

An amount of Rs315 million was released by the Punjab finance department in the fiscal year 2009-10. According to a notification issued by the Punjab School Education Department (SED) on Friday, “The chief minister of Punjab has directed that School Education Department to introduce technical education at the school level.”



It added that 1,080 vocational workshops had been setup at high and higher secondary schools. Out of the total selected schools in each district, 15 are for boys and as many fir girls.



“The finance department has already provided funds amounting to Rs315 million.” It added that according to the allocations made, Rs275,000  will be used for purchase of equipment and Rs25,000 for maintenance of the workshop for each school.

The notification lists equipment and the list of selected schools for the technical programme and directed officials concerned to take necessary measures to assure the availability of the equipment and other resources for the vocational classes.



It asks District Education Authorities (DEAs) Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and District Education Officers (DEOs) to check the selected schools. It said, “It is requested that CEOs and DEOs (SE) shall visit workshops/schools in their respective districts.
