The female students eclipsed their male counterparts by clinching a far higher number of A-1 grades. Some 2,038 out of 2,847 students who qualified the matric exams with A-1 grades were female students.
Although the first two positions in the matric exams were secured by male students, eight out of the 13 students who made it to the top 10 were female, including four students from Hayat Girls High School, Hyderabad. With 89.29%, Arsalan Khan of Cadet College Petaro, Jamshoro, bagged the first position while the second position with 89.06% went to another student of Cadet College Petaro, Habibullah Khan.

Muskan Kumar, from Comprehensive Grammar High School in Matli, Badin district, won third place with 88.82% marks.
Another 16,045 students passed with A grades, 19,076 with B grades, 11,306 with C grades and 2,409 with D grades. A total of 11,643 students failed the exams. BISE Chairperson Dr Muhammad Memon while talking to the press reiterated the urgency for curbing malpractices and cheating during exams. "Let the students fail rather than pass with help of cheating," he said.
