Superhit Urdu film ‘Lakhon Mein Eik’ screened

Rich tributes paid to actor Mustafa Qureshi

ISLAMABAD: The Lok Virsa’s Mandwa Film Club on Saturday screened the super hit Urdu film `Lakhon Mein Eik’ at its media centre.

The screening was attended by renowned film star Mustafa Qureshi, who was also part of the film. Lakhon Mein Eik had been released in 1966 and was termed as the production of that year.

It was a multi-star venture with actors Shamim Ara and Ijaz in playing the lead roles while Nisar Bazmi did the score and Madam Noorjehan sang the songs, helping the movie win awards.

Raza Mir directed the movie while and Zia Sarhadi’s script was acknowledged.



Qureshi, though, had gained popularity in Punjabi movies. His iconic role as the villain Noori Nat and later in Maula Jatt (1979) became his trademark and he went on to adapt similar roles for many years to come. He went on to act in over 500 movies, in Urdu, Punjabi and Sindhi languages.

Meanwhile, Lok Virsa Executive Director Dr Fouzia Saeed said that it was an honour for the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage to stage the screening and have Qureshi as a guest.

She added that the upcoming generation can learn from such films which make up the golden era of the Pakistani film industry. Qureshi, after making brief remarks answered fan questions.
