Exacting revenge: Assailants kill three men, injure another

The victims were attacked in a karo-kari dispute

SUKKUR: Three persons were killed and another was injured when a group of armed men opened fire on them in Dadpur Jagir village situated within the limits of Mauladad police station, District Jacobabad, late Monday night .

Two groups of Jakhrani tribe members have been dagger drawn over a karo-kari dispute since last couple of years. On Monday night, when some Jakhranis were busy working in the field, armed men belonging to the other group attacked them and started firing indiscriminately. As a result, two men were killed on the spot and two other were wounded, while the assailants managed to flee.

The deceased who died on the spot were identified as Suhrab Jakhrani and his cousin Hamza Jakhrani. Hamza's father, Azam Jakhrani, and Abdul Qadir Jakhrani were the two men who were injured in the attack. The police rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies and injured to Civil Hospital, Jacobabad. Both the wounded men were referred to Larkana, however, Azam succumbed to his injuries on the way.

According to a Jacobabad-based reporter, two groups of the Jakhrani tribe had been fighting over a karo-kari dispute for a couple of years, because of which a person was killed in a clash earlier. Later, one of the groups, led by Gulsher Jakhrani, shifted to Balochistan to avoid further loss of life.

The reporter claimed that on Monday night, the group led by Gulsher attacked the men working in the fields, killed three of them and fled. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
