KARACHI:

As part of the Sindh government's austerity drive, the Sindh Police has been directed to reduce its petroleum consumption by 33 per cent across all units.

According to official instructions issued by Inspector General Sindh Javed Alam Odho, all additional IGs, DIGs, SSPs, SPs, and AIGs have been instructed to implement immediate cost-cutting measures regarding fuel usage.

The directive applies to all police units and offices, requiring them to significantly reduce petroleum expenditure, while clearly exempting routine patrol operations of police stations.

Officials have been instructed to prepare fuel usage plans based on operational needs and responsibilities. The order also mandates a 33 per cent reduction in monthly expenditure for all units (excluding police stations) in the fourth quarter.

The notification warns that exceeding allocated fuel credit limits will result in strict disciplinary action. Unit heads and motor transport officers will be held accountable in case of violations.

All units have also been directed to submit revised fuel management plans within three days to ensure compliance with the new cost-control measures.
