“We are waiting for the AJK government to accept our demands,” said AJK Medical Teachers Association Mirpur Chapter General Secretary, Dr Sadiq Hussain. The MBBS medical college employees have received only the basic pay and not the allowances, he said.
Teachers had been demanding payment of their salaries held for the past five months. However, the government on Friday released salaries for only three months.
As they wait for the disbursement of their outstanding salaries and allowances, the teaching staff said will continue their protest by fastening black bands on their arms.
This silent protest will continue till their demands are accepted, including timely payment of their monthly salaries and allowances and release of remaining dues. Hussain said the decision to defer the strike was taken in a general body meeting of the association held at MBBS medical college late on Thursday night.
