
“We are not oblivious to our corporate social responsibilities, we take care of people living around the company’s fields,” a company official said on Tuesday.
He added that OGDCL spent 2 per cent of its profit on welfare and development on local areas and has a separate department to look after them.
Giving details, the official said in Karak District, the company established a technical training school worth Rs0.962 million to equip the youth of the area with market skills.
The company has also given scholarships worth Rs0.12 million to local students in 2010.
Other developments include provision of fibreglass water tanks to Government Girls High School Shakardara, construction of water storage tanks and provision of hand pumps to the locals of Bohri Sagri near Chanda Oilfield and construction of water storage tanks at Faqiri Banda village.
