FAISALABAD: A woman was strangled by her brother following an argument, police said on Friday.

A Garh police spokesman told newsmen Ishaq, a resident of Chak 622-GB, had frequently quarrelled with his sister Bakhtawar Bibi after she moved in with him following her divorce.

He said on Thursday, he argued with her again and strangled her after she went to sleep. He said police had been informed about it in the morning. Ishaq had not been around when the police team arrived. Later, he went to the police station and turned himself in. The man was arrested and an FIR was registered against him. The spokesman said Ishaq had told them that he was angry at his sister for bringing “dishonour” to their family and had killed her after she refused to reconcile with her husband.
