Essential commodities: CDGL notifies new prices

According to the new price list, the retail price of Basmati rice (new) has been set at Rs80 per kilogramme

LAHORE: The City District Government of Lahore (CDGL) issued a new list of essential commodities on Wednesday. Lahore District Coordination Officer (DCO) Capt (r) Muhammad Usman has directed all price control magistrates to enforce the new prices across the metropolis and arrest profiteers.

According to the new price list, the retail price of Basmati rice (new) has been set at Rs80 per kilogramme, Basmati rice super (old) Rs90 per kg and IRRI rice Rs32 per kg. Price of gram pulse (small) is Rs146 per kg, special gram pulse Rs152 per kg, small red lentils Rs150 per kg, imported red lentils Rs134 per kg, imported daal maash (washed) Rs242 per kilogram, imported daal maash (unwashed) Rs220 per kg, daal mong (washed) Rs124 per kg, daal mong (unwashed) Rs124 per kg, local black gram (big) Rs145 per kg, local black gram (small) Rs134 per kg, white gram (big) Rs162 per kg, white gram (small) Rs174 per kg, gram flour Rs152 per kg, red chili (kandhari) Rs244 per kg and white sugar Rs70 per kg.

The price of 100-gramme roti has been fixed at Rs6, naan (120-gramme) Rs10 and khamiri roti (100-gramme) Rs8.

The price of milk has been fixed at Rs70 per kg and of yogurt at Rs85 per kg. According to the list, the mutton price has been fixed at Rs700 per kg and the beef price at Rs325 per kg.

The notification states bottled water, beverages and nimko will be sold according to prices mentioned on their packages. However, if prices are not printed on products, the shopkeepers can sell items at five per cent profit on the prices provided by the company or distributor.

New prices are applicable across provincial capital as well as in shops along the Motorway service areas.
