Living Green: Plantation drive underway

Our Correspondent July 18, 2016

LAHORE:

Of the 0.5 million saplings that Punjab Rangers plan to plant under a plantation drive, 20 per cent have been planted, a spokesperson for the force said on Monday. He said the campaign was underway in collaboration with the Forest Department. He said Punjab Rangers planted millions of saplings every year along the border and adjoining areas as part of their Rangers Environment Protection and Improvement Drive (REPAID). The campaign, he said, had support of government organisations and local communities. The spokesperson said medical camps were also arranged for those living in border areas. At least 58 camps would be organised this year. Fish, too, would be released in selected aquatic areas during the drive, he said.
