Regulated business: Health test mandatory for butchers

BAHAWALPUR: Bahawalpur DCO Ehtisham Anwar Mahaar has made blood screening tests mandatory for all butchers supplying meat to Ramazan Bazaars. In a directive issued during a surprise raid at a Ramazan Bazaar on Sunday, the DCO said the butchers should arrange blood screening tests for their staff as well. He said this was needed to ensure that only high quality and hygienic meat was supplied to the 12 Ramazan Bazaars in the district.He directed Health Department officials concerned to launch a campaign for the purpose. HE said mobile health units could be used to conduct blood screening tests at the Ramazan Bazaars.The DCO said butchers who fail to get the mandatory blood screening tests would not be allowed to do business at Ramazan Bazaars.
