Visit: Finnish envoy impressed by PSX performance

Finland Ambassador Rauli Suikkanen said on Thursday he was impressed by the stellar performance of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) in the last few months.

During a visit to the PSX, the Finnish ambassador appreciated efforts of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and the stock exchange management to bring transparency and efficiency in the stock market, according to a PSX press release. The ambassador received a detailed presentation on the economy and capital markets. He held a discussion on areas of common interest with members of the PSX board and management.

PSX Chairman Muneer Kamal highlighted the improved economic situation of Pakistan and spoke about key developments, including demutualisation, integration of three stock exchanges, product development, investor awareness campaign, improved outlook for the listing of new companies, and expected re-designation of the PSX from the MSCI Frontier Market Index to the Emerging Market Index by mid-2016.
