Years later, Jami was roaming around Swat filming a television commercial when he noticed a very “hi-fi and classy” jeep pass by. The passenger in the jeep was none other than Rohail himself. Following this impromptu encounter with his mentor, Jami posted a photo on Facebook captioning, “Roaming around the earth, I found my first boss somewhere in the mountains. What luck?”
Film of the year – Moor
According to Jami, Rohail was one of the first people to have deposed faith in him. “Karavan had approached Bilal to direct the video for Rakh Aas as he was in great demand after the music video for Maula. Bilal then convinced them to sign me. Since we had a limited budget, Rohail gave his brand new camera — a DVX 1000 – to me,” he reminisced.
Although the mentor and the mentee had a brief interaction on the road, Rohail later paid Jami a visit on the sets of the TVC and also met members of his crew, nearly all of whom were fans of the former Coke Studio producer. While Jami said he had “absolutely no idea” what Rohail was doing, roaming around the mountain regions, acquaintances of the musician say he was there to work on his next music project.

Jami was not the only renowned director to have caught a glimpse of Rohail as Wajahat Rauf – who is currently filming for Lahore se Aagey in Swat – also posted pictures of his cast and crew with him.
