Achievement: 1122 has rescued 3.9m people since 2004

A 12-member Pakistan Air Force (PAF) delegation visited Rescue 1122 Headquarters on Friday and inspected various operations of the Punjab Emergency Service (PES), including its provincial monitoring cell, complaints cell, citizens’ feedback system and real time emergency management monitoring.


The delegation consisted of Wing Commanders Ahmed Shiraz and Ovais Amjad; Squadron Leaders Absar Farogh, Habibullah, Kashif Jibran, Suleman,  Muhammad Waqas, Hashim Afridi, Jawad Ahmed and Tahir Raza; and Flight Lieutenants Aaqib Siddiqui and Muhammad Ali.

PES Director General Arshad Zia briefed the delegation about various functions of the emergency service. He said Rescue 1122, started as a pilot project in 2004, had become the country’s largest emergency-humanitarian service. He said that Rescue 1122 had rescued over 3.9 million emergency people using its ambulance service, rescue and fire service, water rescue teams and urban search and rescue teams.

Zia said that Urban Search and Rescue Teams were being developed in all divisions of the Punjab. These would be equipped with modern emergency equipment, he said.
