ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court on Monday ordered the SHO of the Kohsar Police Station to register a hit-and-run case against National Assembly Member Rohail Asghar belonging to the ruling PML-N.

The Additional District and Sessions Judge (West), Muhammad Atta Rabbani, ordered registration of FIR on an application filed by a woman, Shaheen Bibi, who has accused the PML-N parliamentarian of killing her husband, Raz Muhammad, who worked as a security guard for a private company.

In an application filed under Section 22-A of the Criminal Procedure Code, Bibi through her counsel Nadeem Jatala said that her husband was heading home when a car bearing a government plate crushed her husband near Blue Area on August 10, 2014.

The counsel added that the hit-and-run victim was rushed to the hospital but he succumbed to injuries. Later on, he said, it emerged that the vehicle belonged to MNA Rohail Asghar.

The counsel alleged that the MNA ran over the victim, while he was walking on a footpath.

Police informed the court that Asghar was not in the car and it was being driven by his driver, Zulfiqar.

Bibi’s counsel, however, rejected the police claim.

The court, following the arguments ordered the Kohsar police to register a case against the parliament member.
