FAISALABAD:

The counsel for the complainant in an FIR registered over the murder of a Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) activist at a rally in 2014 told an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday that his client did not trust it for impartiality.

He said complainant Atta Muhammad Khan, brother of deceased Haq Nawaz, had submitted an application for transfer of the case to the Lahore High Court.

On Saturday, Muhammad and seven other witnesses were presented before Judge Raja Parvaiz Akhtar. At an earlier hearing, Akhtar had taken notice of the complainant and other witnesses’ consistent absence from the hearings and issued arrest warrants for them.

The police were directed to produce them before the court.

PTI activist Haq Nawaz was shot and killed at a rally near Novelty Bridge on December 8, 2014.

The FIR registered in the matter with Samanabad police mentioned among others State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali, Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah Khan, MPA Mian Tahir Jameel and Faisalabad DCO Noorul Amin Mengal as suspects.
