LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday sought a report from the Mandi Bahauddin district coordination officer (DCO) and district police officer (DPO) about registration of cases against parents and female students of a private college allegedly at the behest of the college’s principal.

The counsel for the students and their family told the court the district administration had sealed the college after the students accused the principal of sexual harassment.

He said the principal had later influenced the authorities into reopening the college. He said the students and their parents staged a protest demonstration in front of the DCO office demanding registration of a case against the principal. Police had instead registered a case against the protesters, he said. The counsel requested the court to order cancellation of the case.

The court has ordered the DCO and DPO to submit their reports within a fortnight.
