JHELUM: Police in Sohawa tehsil of Jhelum district have booked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidates and supporters in two separate cases of violations of election code of conduct.

In the first incident, PTI district organiser and former MPA Chaudhary Muhammad Saqlain and over a hundred other people were booked for taking out a rally despite a ban on rallies. Domeli Police Station registered the case against Saqlain, candidate for chairman union council (UC) Jajial Muhammad Ashfaq, candidate for vice-chairman Raja Tabassum, candidate for general councillor Haji Ishaq, Ghulam Farid, Abid Hussain, Haji Nazeer and over a hundred others unnamed persons.

On the other hand, Sohawa Police Station booked PMLN-supported candidate for chairman UC Phulray Syedan Malik Muhammad Imran, Dr Syed Anwar, Mirza Sajid, Muhammad Ilyas, candidate for general councillor Chaudhry Ghalib and three hundred unnamed persons for violating the Punjab Sound System Regulation Ordinance 2015.

Menwhile, over 30 candidates have deposited their licensed arms with the police in Sohawa. The police had directed all candidates to deposit their licensed arms with the local police station.
