At Islamic university: US varsity to set up centre of excellence

Al-Draiweesh assured the UNCW delegation of his full support for the initiative

ISLAMABAD:


University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW) will establish a centre for teaching excellence (CTE) at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). This was announced after a two-member UNCW delegation, comprising Dr Carrie Clements and Dr Lance Cummings, held a meeting with IIUI President Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh in Islamabad. IIUI Faculty of Languages and Literature Dean Dr Munawar Iqbal Gondal also attended the meeting. The CTE is part of collaboration between the two universities in teaching, research and community engagement. Faculty exchange and teachers trainings are also part of the collaboration. Al-Draiweesh assured the UNCW delegation of his full support for the initiative. On the occasion, the IIUI president also proposed to launch a dialogue on interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence. He said IIUI, which hosted students from around 40 countries, was a good example of co-existence.
