ISLAMABAD:

The city administration has decided to launch an operation against numerous illegal bus terminals. These terminals have been a source of nuisance for many years, and have been constructed on encroached land with alleged connivance of the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

Majority of these terminals are located along IJP Road, and in Faizabad and Pir Wadahi areas.

Deputy Commissioner Mushtaq Ahmed told The Express Tribune on Monday that a grand operation against all illegal bus terminals in the city would begin from November 4, starting from Faizabad.

“All the illegal bus terminals operating in the city will be demolished, and the operation will continue for three days,” the deputy commissioner said.

He said the Islamabad Transport Authority Secretary Shazia Qazi and CDA had chalked out a comprehensive plan.

He said that in the future the administration would make sure the process of issuance of licences for establishing the terminals was strictly implemented.

“Majority of bus terminals in Faizabad were established illegally,” another official of the administration said.

In February 2014, the Islamabad High Court had ordered the city administration to remove all illegal bus stations in the capital.
