Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Senior Vice President Sheikh Pervez Ahmed has called upon the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to urgently repair the main road artery at the Islamabad Dry Port and those at the industrial area on a priority basis to facilitate trade and industrial activities, according to a press release.
“The road has been damaged for a long time and the CDA has paid no attention towards its repair, due to which the heavy vehicles going to the dry port and industrial areas are facing problems,” he was quoted as saying in the ICCI statement. “The government earns millions from the port and industrial areas in terms of sales tax and excise duty but pays no heed to developing these roads,” he added. He said CDA has also failed to supply water in overhead water tanks in I-9 and I-10 industrial and residential areas.“The CDA’s water tanks are unable to provide water on time while the civic body spends millions of rupees on their fuels,” he added.
