NAB Rawalpindi Director General Zahir Shah along with his team briefed the chairman about the ongoing cases at the bureau.
Chaudhry said Rawalpindi is one of the important bureaus in the region and plays a prominent role in contributing towards the overall performance of NAB.
During the briefing given to the chairman, it was learnt that NAB Rawalpindi has filed seven references in respective accountability courts related to the rental power project (RPP) cases, including Karkey Ship; Piranghaib, Multan; Sahuwal, Sailkot; Guddu, Sindh; Naudero-I and II, Sindh; and Summundri Road, Faislabad.
The accused in these references include ex-prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, ex-secretary/ chairman PEPCO Ismail Qureshi, ex-secretary/ chairman PEPCO Shahid Rafi, ex-MD PEPCO Tahir Basharat Cheema, and others.
Two cases of RPPs including, Sindh, Bhikki, Sheikhupara, and Gulf Rental Power are at the investigation stage, while three RPP cases including Sharqpur, Reshma Power Generation, Raiwand, and Young Gen Power and in the inquiry stage, the briefing revealed.
The NAB chairman said corruption not only caused delays in the early completion of development projects, but also huge losses to the national exchequer.
He appreciated the performance of NAB Rawalpindi and directed all ranks of the bureau to work more vigilantly to curb corruption.
