Electricity Requirement: LCCI stresses on addressing power crisis
The LCCI president said most of the industrial units had already reduced their working hours

Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad said that economic growth is directly linked with energy; therefore the government should take every possible initiative to ensure cheaper and sufficient electricity for the manufacturing sector. He said that power outages had become the main threat to the growth of the manufacturing sector that is the base of economic structure of the country, there is a dire need to complete power projects in the shortest possible time. Arshad said timely completion of hydropower projects was vital for mitigating water and power shortfall. Due to longer hour power cuts, the investment scenario is in ruins and existing industrial units have curtailed their productions, he mentioned. He said the government should exploit all available options to stop unscheduled power cuts which are adversely affecting economic activities in the industrial areas. The LCCI president said most of the industrial units had already reduced their working hours.
