Development: Projects costing Rs4b approved for Bahawalpur division

The Planning and Development Department approved of six development schemes costing Rs4 billion for Bahawalpur Division on Monday.


Chairing the meeting, Bahawalpur Division Commissioner Capt (r) Saqib Zafar said Rs263 million has been approved for the master plan of the Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park II and Rs1.83 billion has been allocated for the construction of a double road from Uch Sharif to Ahmadpur East. He said Rs345 million has been approved for the construction of an 18km-long road from Shahpur to Qaimpur.


For Bahawalnagar district, a 50km-long road stretching from Fort Abbas to Marot will be built that a cost of Rs1.36 billion, he said. In Rahim Yar Khan district, a 20km-long road stretching from Khanpur to Bagh-o-Bahar will be built at a cost of Rs259.7 million.


The 4.25km-long road leading from Belgium Chowk to Chowk Bypass will be widened at a cost of Rs398 million.


Zafar said that work on the beautification of Bahawalpur was underway. He said special attention would be paid to preserve the cultural and historical sites of the city.
