LARKANA: No negligence will be tolerated in the fight against polio, said deputy commissioner Javeed Ahmed Jagirani. He was presiding over a meeting of district Extended Programme on Immunisation and Polio Eradication Committee at his office on Tuesday. He urged the health department officers, elected representatives, NGOs, teachers, scouts, students and social workers to play an important role in administering anti-polio drops to children, aged five or less, during the three-day anti-polio campaign, from September 14 to September 16. The health department officials should ensure that the mobile teams visit remote katcha areas, he said. All the teams will be provided with transport, he assured the committee members. No child of the targeted group will be left out, he claimed. Collective efforts are required for the eradication of polio from the country, he added.
